Emily Practice Manager
Emily began working with Dr. Lerman and Dr. Vliet in 2000 after moving to Florida from Athens, Georgia. Over the years she has worked as a receptionist and a technician, helping to manage the office and maintain our website. After gaining some experience in sales with a veterinary distributor, she returned as our practice manager in 2014. She says that working at JAH rarely feels like 'work' due to the warm, family-like atmosphere and is truly proud to be part of such a caring and compassionate team. Emily loves being a mom to her daughter, Gaelyn, and is also an artist and avid music lover. She spends as much of her free time as possible on or near the water, attending concerts, visiting family and friends, and making jewelry.
Heather Office Manager
Heather has been with Jonesville Animal Hospital since it opened in 2003, bringing with her 15 years of experience and knowledge in the veterinary field. In her spare time, Heather enjoys spending time with her husband, Ric, their two horses, two dogs, and a cat. Her hobbies include dressage, cooking, reading and gardening.
Melanie joined the Jonesville Animal Hospital team as a receptionist in March 2008. She enjoys spending time with her husband, their daughter, Faith, and their son, Devyn. She has four dogs, a Lab Mix named Hershey, and three Papillons named Stella, Eden, and Ivy. She also has two cats, Sarge and Grimlock. In her spare time, Melanie enjoys playing games and doing arts and crafts with her kids.
Christina joined the Jonesville Animal Hospital team as a receptionist in June 2012 with 14 years of experience in the veterinary field. She enjoys spending time with her boyfriend Kirk and their children Carlie, Chloe, Tiffany, and Austin. She has a Rat Terrier named Ratman, a Chinese Crested named Harold, a Chi-Weenie named Trooper, and an American Bulldog Mix named Clyde. In her spare time, Christina enjoys spending time outdoors, cooking, and watching sports.
Julie Medical Records Auditor
Julie came to the US from Nottingham, England in 2006. She worked at a small animal practice in Miami for seven years prior to relocating to Gainesville in 2014. She joined the Jonesville Animal Hospital team as a receptionist in 2015, tried to retire later that year, but returned November of 2016 to work behind the scenes in data record management. Julie shares her home with six rescued pets; two dogs and four cats. In her spare time, she enjoys reading cookbooks, walking her dogs, catching up with her friends and family in the UK (a daughter, son and three grandchildren) via FaceTime, and exploring new sights in and around Gainesville with her wife.
Katy Veterinary Surgical Technician
Katy joined the Jonesville Animal Hospital staff in April 2009. She has worked as a veterinary technician since 2000. Originally from Loxahatchee, Florida, Katy currently resides in Lake Butler with her husband and daughter. They have three dogs, two cats, four horses, and a fish named Fishbert. When she's not at work, Katy enjoys horseback riding, cooking, outdoor activities and spending time with her family and friends.
Tara Veterinary Technician
Tara joined the Jonesville Animal Hospital team in May 2015. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in Animal Science from the University of Florida in 2013 and has been involved with local rescue organizations since 2009. Tara was one of our veterinary technicians prior to accepting a position at UF in a research laboratory. Now, she helps out on Saturdays as a part-time receptionist. When not at work, she spends a lot of time on her goat farm or hanging out with one of her many pets.
Lindsay Veterinary Technician
Lindsay has been a veterinary technician since 2013 but joined Jonesville Animal Hospital in July 2017. She is currently working towards a degree as an ultrasound technician (for humans). She is a Gainesville native who enjoys spending her weekends visiting the nearby beaches and springs. Lindsay has an obsession with dogs of the hound variety, having two of her own named Jimbo and Jethro, but especially loves dogs with special needs or those considered less adoptable.
Charlene Veterinary Technician
Charlene joined the Jonesville Animal Hospital team in August 2017 but worked as a veterinary technician in Miami for several years prior to joining our team. She is originally from Miami but moved to Gainesville to pursue a degree in Animal Science at the University of Florida. Charlene plans to continue on to veterinary school after graduation, and ultimately work with small animals. In her free time, she enjoys watching Netflix, reading, hanging out with friends, and spending time with her dog, Eva.
Stephen Veterinary Assistant
Stephen joined the Jonesville Animal Hospital team in March 2017. He grew up in Melbourne, Florida and is currently a student at the University of Florida majoring in Biology with a minor in Business Administration, and plans to apply to veterinary school. Stephen has one cat named Socks that lives back at home in Melbourne. When he isn't working, he enjoys camping, going to the beach, reading books, and spending time with friends.
Abby Veterinary Assistant
Abby joined the Jonesville Animal Hospital team in July 2017. She is currently studying Biology at the University of Florida and plans to attend veterinary school after receiving her undergraduate degree. Abby has two Lab mix dogs, Barkley and Bugsy, that live back at home in Ocala, Florida. In her free time, Abby enjoys listening to music, traveling, hiking, spending time with friends, and attending concerts.
Christian Veterinary Assistant
Christian joined the Jonesville Animal Hospital team in July 2017. Originally from Fleming Island, he is an Animal Science major at the University of Florida and plans to apply to veterinary school. He has a gorgeous cat named Narcissa, a regal dog named Queenie (pictured), and his hobbies include making sure everyone has seen the most recent pictures of his pets, spending as much time as humanly possible at Walt Disney World, and creating art that ranges from cake decorating to traditional studio media.
Brittnie Veterinary Technician
Brittnie joined the Jonesville Animal Hospital team in November 2017. Born and raised in Maine, Brittnie has always had a passion for animals. While attending the University of Maine, she began pursuing a career in veterinary medicine and worked as an assistant for a local animal hospital. Now living in Florida, Brittnie plans to obtain an Animal Science degree and continue on to veterinary school. At home she has five wonderful dogs, Ginger, Gemma, Rusty, Maisie, and Sophie. In her free time she enjoys hiking, camping, and spending time with family.
Will Animal Care Attendant
Will joined the Jonesville Animal Hospital team in July 2017. He has lived in Gainesville for most of his life, raised by parents who are also avid animal lovers. Having been exposed to veterinary medicine at an early age by his mother, who was a veterinary technician, Will began working as an animal care attendant in high school. As a passionate musician, Will graduated with an AA in music from Sante Fe College, and continues to pursue a career in music. He has two pets, a dog named Quinn and a cat named Harley.
Tiffany has been working at JAH since July 2018. She also works as a student contractor at the USGS Wetlands and Aquatics Research Center where she does toxicity studies on mosquitoes and butterflies. Her pets include: her dog Ace; her cats Kuno, CeCe, & Capo; a bearded dragon Renzo; three guinea pigs Delilah, Azalea, & Iris; six leopard geckos; and four axolotls. Tiffany is taking classes at Sante Fe College and planning to apply to the UF School of Veterinary Medicine. In her free time, she enjoys nature walks, crocheting, bike riding, playing video games, and hanging out by the pool.
Michelle Veterinary Assistant
Michelle joined Jonesville Animal Hospital in July 2018. Originally from Queens, NY, she moved to Florida in 2016 to attend the University of Florida. Michelle has always loved animals and being around them. She has two amazing dogs, Egg Roll and Beanie, as well as a cat named Gizmo (who can be feisty at times). Her hobbies are staring at her cat, watching TV, and staring at her dogs.
Alia Veterinary Technician
Alia joined the Jonesville Animal Hospital team in July 2018. She was raised here in Gainesville. Growing up she was very involved in athletics. She danced at Pofal Dance Studios for eight years and trained for professional water skiing for seven years. She also swam on the Buchholz swim team for two years. Alia has always had a love for animals and volunteered at a local veterinary clinic while in high school. She started working professionally as a Veterinary Technician when she moved to Southern California. She continued to do so for many years while also becoming involved in casting commercials in Los Angeles. Alia enjoys cooking, gardening, any opportunity to be in the water, and going to Disney World as often as possible. She has three pets at home; Shelly the leopard gecko, Monty the ball python, and Bisquit the couch-potatoest lab mix ever.
Alexis Veterinary Assistant
Alexis started at Jonesville Animal Hospital in March 2019, but has had a passion for animals for as long as she can remember. In order to pursue this passion, this Jacksonville native relocated to Gainesville to major in Animal Sciences and minor in Business Administration at the University of Florida. In her spare time, she enjoys naps by the pool and spoiling her rescue cat, Bootsy, with new toys.
Jenna Veterinary Assistant
As the daughter of Dr. Lerman, Jenna has grown up within the walls of Jonesville Animal Hospital. When she was little, she would cozy up in the hospital surrounded by the wonders of veterinary medicine, sparking her passion for the field. Now, as she begins her studies at the University of Florida, she is excited to officially join the Jonesville Animal Hospital team and pursue her dream of becoming a veterinarian. On a personal note, Jenna is a retired level 10 competitive gymnast, and in her spare time she enjoys working out, hanging out with friends, listening to music and spending time with her two kitties, TJ and Blaze.
I could not love a place of business any more than I do Jonesville Animal Hospital. Both veterinarians are incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and loving towards the animals. The staff has some of the friendliest people I've met, and their professionalism is top-notch. The facility is large, clean, and modern, and the extended hours are fantastic for working professionals. Thank you for being so great to our dog, Charlie!
Dr. Vliet and Dr. Lerman are awesome! When one of my dogs was afraid of going to the vet, they worked with me to make her visits as stress-free as possible. They go out of their way to make every visit great and the facility is clean and inviting. They know me by name when I come to buy dog food and always offer to bring it to the car for me if I have my two young daughters with me.
I have had the privilege of having Dr. Lerman taking care of our animals for over 20 years. The compassion, knowledge and attention to detail displayed in the variety of situations we have experienced is truly amazing and appreciated. It is so evident that everyone associated with Jonesville Animal Hospital has a true love of providing quality care for animals.
The staff at Jonesville Animal Hospital is always exceptional! Our beloved Border Collie, Mysti, was a patient there for 10 years, and we always felt as if they loved her as much as we did. Even after her passing they sent our family the most heart felt, loving message to console us. We think the world of the entire team! Now our new puppy, Boo, will enjoy their loving care too.
The Doctors and Staff at Jonesville Animal Hospital are top-notch. They stayed late, performed emergency surgeries after "normal" business hours, and made sure to call and update me of their status even though it was 9PM at night. I feel like they treat each pet as if it were their own, and always have the best interest of the pet in mind.
Jonesville Animal Hospital is simply the best! Our dogs have been patients at Jonesville Animal Hospital ever since it was first opened by Dr. Vliet and Dr. Lerman. They have cared for our whippet and our two greyhounds. The expert care, knowledge, and compassion shown to us by Drs. Vliet and Lerman and their entire team is outstanding. It is obvious that they love our dogs.
I have entrusted the care of my three dogs to Drs. Vliet and Lerman for about 10 years and am so pleased with their practice. I like that I've never had to deal with a waiting room full of animals; they check every patient in quickly and get them into exam rooms to avoid any "doggy personality differences!" Their support staff always make my dogs feel welcomed, non-threatened and their favorite patients of all time!
The wonderful care provided to our three cats, at Jonesville Animal Hospital, makes me wish that they were my health care providers! Dr. Vliet and Dr. Lerman have given our cats exceptional care at every visit. They've helped us navigate behavior issues and patiently saw us to a resolution. These fine vets have put together an incredible staff, all of whom adore animals! I cannot say enough about JAH, and highly recommend them!
I recently moved to the Gainesville area, and I was thrilled to discover Jonesville Animal Hospital. My 10-year-old Lab suffers from a few health problems and I wanted to find a top-notch local vet for her. Jonesville Animal Hospital has more than exceeded my expectations. This is by far the best service I've ever received from a veterinary hospital.
