Your cat received a short acting intravenous anesthetic for his neuter today. For this reason, you should expect him to be less active than normal for the next 12-24 hours. Cats that are accustomed to going outside must stay inside on the night of the surgery. Although your pet has two incisions in his scrotum, there are no sutures present. Therefore, you do not need to return to have sutures removed. It is rare to develop any post operative swelling or infection from the neutering procedures. However, we do suggest that you check the surgery site daily for the first 2-3 days to be sure there are no signs of infection such as swelling, discharge or odor. Exercise restriction is not necessary after a cat neuter. Your outdoor cat can return to his outdoor activities the day after surgery as long as he is eating and acting normal. If you have any other questions, do not hesitate to call.
