History & About Us
Jonesville Animal Hospital is a companion animal hospital located on Newberry Road in the heart of the Jonesville business center.
Established in December 2003 by two local veterinarians, Jonesville Animal Hospital is a brand new state of the art medical facility. The founders of Jonesville Animal Hospital, Dr. Jill Lerman and Dr. Kathy Vliet, have over 20 years of combined experience in the Alachua County veterinary community.
Jonesville Animal Hospital is a full service veterinary medical hospital offering individualized preventive health care plans, a full range of medical diagnostics and therapeutics, routine and specialized surgical procedures, dental prophylaxis and oral surgery, behavioral and nutritional counseling, boarding, bathing, and drop off and house call services by appointment. We are one of the few veterinary hospitals with a Penn Hip certified veterinarian on staff. We also provide a wide variety of pet health care products both in-house and online.
We are actively involved in community pet organizations, such as Gainesville Pet Rescue that work to help rescue and place pets and further the human-animal bond in productive ways.

Dr. Jill LermanDr. Jill Lerman is originally from Providence, Rhode Island. After graduating from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Science degree, she attended Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine where she received her DVM in 1990. In 1990, Dr. Lerman relocated to Gainesville where she has been practicing small animal medicine and surgery as an associate until opening Jonesville Animal Hospital in December 2003. In her free time, Dr. Lerman enjoys the company of her husband, 2 kids, 2 dogs and 4 cats. Dr. Lerman is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), Florida Veterinary Medical Association (FVMA), and the Alachua Veterinary Medical Association. |

Dr. Kathy VlietDr. Kathy Vliet graduated from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in 1996. She completed an internship at The Animal Medical Center in Manhattan, New York in 1997.
Since then she has practiced small animal medicine and surgery in the Gainesville area. She is one of the few Penn Hip certified veterinarians in Central Florida.
Dr. Vliet is married to Kent Vliet, a biologist at the University of Florida who specializes in the study of alligators. They have 2 horses and 4 dogs.
Dr. Vliet is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), Florida Veterinary Medical Association (FVMA), and the Alachua Veterinary Medical Association. |
