Dr. Jill Lerman

Originally from Providence, Rhode Island, Dr. Lerman received her undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut in 1986, and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1990. After graduation from veterinary school, Dr. Lerman relocated to Gainesville to practice small animal medicine and surgery, and has lived there ever since.

After 13 years in practice as an associate veterinarian in Alachua County, Dr. Lerman, along with Dr. Kathy Vliet, co-founded Jonesville Animal Hospital in 2003. They wanted to create an environment where they could care for their clients and patients with compassion, kindness and dedication while offering exceptional and personalized veterinary services.

With over 22 years of veterinary practice experience, Dr. Lerman brings to her patients and clients a diverse set of skills and interests including surgery, medicine, dentistry, dermatology, animal behavior, and wellness and senior care.

From a very young age, Dr. Lerman has been following her passion to care for animals. As a veterinarian, this passion has led to a commitment to provide comfort to animals while nurturing the bond between pets and their human families.

When she is not with her patients, Dr. Lerman enjoys spending time with her husband Ray, also a veterinarian, her children, Ryan and Jenna, and the family kitties, TJ and Blaze.

Dr. Lerman is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the Florida Veterinary Medical Association (FVMA), and the Alachua Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr. Kathleen Vliet

Dr. Vliet graduated from the University of Florida's College of Veterinary Medicine in 1996. She then completed an internship at The Animal Medical Center in Manhattan, New York. The AMC is one of the busiest veterinary hospitals in the world, and a leader in the most advanced technologies in veterinary medicine.

After her internship, Dr. Vliet returned to the Gainesville area to practice small animal medicine and surgery. She is one of a very few veterinarians in Central Florida certified in PennHIP. In 2003, she co-founded Jonesville Animal Hospital with Dr. Jill Lerman. "Dr. Lerman and I had a vision. We wanted to create a hospital environment where the comfort and trust of our patients is as important as offering the highest quality medicine. We hand pick staff members that share our commitment to a gentle and nurturing approach to patient care."

Dr. Vliet is married to Dr. Kent Vliet, a biologist at the University of Florida. She has a keen interest in animal training. Her free time is dedicated to training her horses and dogs. "I love it, and I am always working on doing a better job and learning something new every day. I completely empathize with my clients struggling with training issues. My husband is an animal behaviorist, and works primarily with alligators. If he can train an alligator to come when called, training a dog should not be so difficult!"

Dr. Vliet is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the Florida Veterinary Medical Association (FVMA), and the Alachua Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr. Davey has special interests in oncology, pediatric and geriatric medicine, dermatology, and dentistry. In particular, he enjoys working with owners to craft the best possible plans to keep their pets happy and healthy.

When he is not in Jonesville Animal Hospital, Dr. Davey enjoys cooking and baking, and exploring the great outdoors. He shares his home with two cats, a ferret, an African pygmy hedgehog, and a crested gecko. Surprisingly, they all get along very well with each other.

Dr. Davey is a member of the American Medical Association (AVMA)
